Why? 
This rugged antenna is built from ABS UV resistant plastic for use in industrial applications. Gain is 2.5 dBi without a ground plane. Can be installed on fiberglass or a plastic housings up to 1/4" thick. No ground plane is required. It secures with a lock nut and washer thru a 5/8" hole. Includes a 1' jumper with SMA male connector. Available in black or white.
