    TESSCO's Community Involvement

Charity CommitteeThe "TESSCO Way" is the foundation of TESSCO’s planning and daily business activity—the principles that guide TESSCO’s actions and assure focus and consistency. TESSCO’s community involvement philosophy is derived from the TESSCO Way, and concentrates on nurturing long-term relationships in the community and creating an inspirational, empowering environment for its team members.

Many of TESSCO’s community activities are geared toward or driven by team members, who run a strong community participation program. TESSCO and its team members make grants and contributions to organizations that share its values. TESSCO also carries out its community responsibilities as a large employer of people with limited abilities.

TESSCO and its team members make grants and contributions to organizations that share its values.
Team members recommend corporate support, make direct financial contributions, and support company-wide fundraisers, including raffles, requests for food, clothing and blood drives. TESSCO and its team members support education, health and human services, and cultural organizations.

Through BARC, The Chimes, and PennMar, TESSCO provides structured and supportive employment opportunities for people with limited skills. This is truly a "win-win" situation for everyone involved--challenged individuals gain meaning in their lives, and TESSCO achieves productive throughput. TESSCO was the 2000 Production Contractor of the Year for PennMar for providing increased earnings and vocational opportunities for their consumers. TESSCO expects to double its work with these organizations in the next year.

TESSCO and/or its team member led Charity Committee have supported the Alzheimer’s Associations, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross. Baltimore County Public Schools, Baltimore Museum of Art, Boy Scouts of America, Leukemia Society, MADD, MS, Neighbors in Need, PCIA, Race for A Cure, Shock Trauma, United Churches Assistance Network, United Way, and the YWCA of Greater Baltimore.

Education has been a focus of TESSCO’s efforts in the greater community. TESSCO has been a loyal supporter of national scholarships awarded by the PCIA Foundation. Through the Wireless Partnership for Education, the the Personal Communications Industry Association, strives to promote the role of wireless telecommunications technology in education through college scholarships. With TESSCO’s help, the PCIA Foundation is creating opportunities for students who plan to pursue a career within the industry. Going forward, TESSCO will continue to emphasize education, helping deserving students pursue education in the sciences.
