Tutorial: Cable Wizard

The TESSCO.com cable wizard is a new tool designed to help a customer select and configure a custom cable assembly. This tool is quick and easy to use.

The wizard walks you through selecting a cable, adding one or more connectors, and choosing installation options. This assembly could be a short custom jumper or a longer length of cable that needs connectors attached. When finished, a configured cable assembly is added to the worksheet. You do not need to worry about connector compatibility since the wizard ensures that only compatible connectors are offered. In addition, the wizard automatically adds the correct TESSCO labor SKU to the order so that the installation may be performed efficiently and correctly. NOTE: Cable assemblies must be prepared in increments of one foot. Also, the cable must participate in a cable relationship with connectors.

To luanch the wizard click on the magic wand icon next to a cable sku that has already been added to your worksheet. Or, if you do not have cable sku entered on your worksheet, click on the "Tools" menu and then choose "Cable Wizard".

The wizard will guide you through the following steps:

How long is the jumper? This quantity will later be multipled for you if ordering more than one.

Wold you prefer a dual fitting (connectors on both ends of the assmebly) or a single fitting?
Do you want the connectors installed with or without heat shrink?

What type of connectors would you like installed? Click on the connector type (i.e. N, UHF, BNC, etc) and then choose the specific connector(s) desired.

Next, confirm quantity and cable assembly length. This example shows 3 assemblies at 100 feet each. Click on "Add to Worksheet" when finished.

TESSCO.com will perform all necessary multiplcation for quanties and pricing based on the number of cable assemblies you specified in the cable wizard, and then add that information to your worksheet. From here, you may add more items, or "Confirm Price" and "Continue" through the remainder of your order.

As with any other TESSCO value-added service, building cable assemblies will add time to your overall order's delivery. For example, a next-day delivery might arrive in two days if the order contains a cable assembly request. Be sure to notice the selected delivery date at the bottom of your worksheet - this date includes any applicable delivery delay.
