Indoor and Outdoor Wireless Signal Enhancement Solutions

Shyam Telecom indoor and outdoor fiber optic DAS equipment is among the most advanced, durable and cost effective of its kind, and is virtually a plug-and-play system compared to most competitive models. The system features single-, dual- and tri-band models. The master optical units (MOU) connect to up to four or eight remote optical units. They are available in 700 (LTE), 800/850/900/1900/2100/AWS MHz and paging bands. The remote optical units (ROU) are available in 19/24/30/33/37/40/43 dBm power levels (ranging from 80 milliwatts, 1/4 watt, up to 20 watts).

Their indoor and outdoor RF repeater and fiber optical DAS active equipment and passive accessories, combined with RF engineering and installation services, provide complete, turnkey solutions for wireless signal enhancement.

Outdoor Dual-Band Antenna System Improves Signal Strength

The YX039-PCS-CEL dual-band outdoor signal antenna system enables the Wi-Ex cell phone signal booster to provide a larger area of both improved indoor signal strength and performance, particularly when weak outdoor cell signals exist. The antenna operates with signals in both the 850 MHz cellular and the 1900 MHz PCS bands. For use with Wi-Ex or other brands of repeaters that use 75 ohm coaxial cable. Not for use with repeaters that utilize 50 ohm cable.

The antenna system consists of two directional panel antennas, one for the cellular band (850 MHz) and one for the PCS band (1900 MHz). An antenna combiner is included to combine the signals from the two antennas into one coax for connection to the Wi-Ex base unit amplifier. Two 18-inch coaxial jumpers are included to connect each panel antenna to the combiner.

A Challenge for GTSI

Despite moving only a few miles, GTSI discovered that its new 106,000 square foot headquarters in Herndon, Virginia didn't have reliable wireless communication coverage. This meant that 600 employees and 100 weekly visitors were forced to walk outside or stand next to windows to place phone calls.

Identifying the Problem—and the Solution

Once the culprit was found to be building location and structure, GTSI partnered with TESSCO for the answer: a state-of-the-art, customized bi-directional amplifier solution. TESSCO developed the design and helped GTSI select the complete line of products to transform it into reality.

Product Selection

TESSCO provided all of the key project requirements including antennas, amplifiers, couplers and splitters, all from industry-leading manufacturing partners such as TerraWave Solutions, Wireless Solutions and CSI. The latter provided the BDA with digital signal processing (DSP) technology, allowing the user to reconfigure the frequencies or signals that are passed through the amplifier, and block unwanted frequencies from other sources.

Andrew Dual-Window PCS RF Repeaters

The Andrew MR1903D/MR1903D is a dual passband solution for enhancing indoor coverage for PCS frequencies. The band-selective mini repeater will monitor the long-term evolution of the RF environment and dynamically adapt to changing conditions. The repeater will automatically set its gain to maximum performance, however an external switch allows the user to manually set the gain if desired.

Cellular Specialties (CSI) Models 51075 and 51062

The Model 510 in-building amplifier is a great option for larger coverage areas such as parking garages, warehouses, campus environments and convention centers. It ampifies both the uplink and downlink signals and features a wide range of powerful features.

Available for the PCS band in Model 51075 with 75 dB gain and Model 51062 with 62 dB gain.

Andrew Cellular/PCS Dual-Band BDA

The MR803D from Andrew is a low-cost solution for enhancing indoor coverage of the 800 SMR and public safety band. The band-selective mini repeater will monitor the long-term evolution of the RF environment and dynamically adapt to changing conditions. The repeater will automatically set its gain to maximum performance; however, an external switch allows users to manually set the gain if desired.

SpotCell 2500Xe: Coverage Up to 50,000 Sq. Feet

When you need even more coverage for larger buildings or enterprises, there's another SpotCell version for you: the 50,000-square-foot model has the same robust features and covers twice the area as the 25,000-foot version. With a second donor unit, this version offers the best solution when you know you'll need a large coverage area from the start.

CSI Model 61080

When you need heavy-duty amplification for large facilities that require high output power and/or high-gain, go for Model 61080. It has a gain of 80 dB, and works in the cellular, SMR 800, SMR 900 and PCS bands with single and dual-band configurations available.

Homes and Small Offices Up to 5,000 Sq. Feet

The Wi-Ex cell phone signal boosters extends the coverage area for all cellular and PCS protocols for single or multiple users in homes and offices.
