    Fundamentals of Electrostatic Discharge

To many people, static electricity is little more than the shock experienced when touching a metal doorknob after walking across a carpeted room or sliding across a car seat. However, static electricity has been a serious industrial problem for centuries. As early as the 1400s, European and Caribbean forts were using static control procedures and devices to prevent electrostatic discharge ignition of black powder stores...

    PACE Area Array Rework Systems

PACE's ThermoFlo Systems (TF 1700 & TF 2700) are the next generation in automated, cost-effective solutions for area array package rework. No other systems on the market have the advanced features found on these systems or are easier to use, ensuring operator acceptance and success! Designed for today's PCBs, ThermoFlo Rework Systems can safely install and remove a wide variety of CSPs, FCs, PBGAs, CBGAs, MLFs, LCCs, and other SMDs. The PC-based software is so advanced that creating profiles has never been easier! The PC software guides the operator through an intuitive interface that virtually automates the process.

All operations—component pick-up, alignment, placement, and reflow—are completed in a single axis, eliminating the risk of component movement after placement. The PCB holders features fine micrometer adjustment for the most delicate X and Y axis alignments. Precise and accurate, within 25m (.001"), Z axis movement is ensured through a twin rail, linear-bearing, motion-control assembly that is similar to those used on automated pick-and-place equipment. The optic systems utilize advanced digital, color cameras and the highest quality prism available for amazing image clarity. ThermoFlo systems combine convective top-side heating with remarkably stable and powerful IR bottom-side heating for the most effective, repeatable heating process available today. Both systems are self-contained and do not require an external air supply or vacuum connections. Upgrade your area rework capabilities and throughput with ThermoFlo!

    Weller WD1000HPT Rework System

The WD1000HPT is powered by the Weller WD1M single-channel power unit. The unit features three programmable preset buttons that can be used to set specific temperatures such as an idle temperature. Great for production, rework and laboratories, the 120-volt unit has a temperature range of 150° F to 850° F.

    Weller WR3000M Rework System

Weller WR3000M Rework Station This rework system from Weller provides 400 watts of power over 3 independently controlled channels and allows the simultaneous use of 3 separate included tools. A large, intuitive LCD display shows critical functions for the 3 channels and the USB port allows the use of included PC software for data logging. The unit operates within a 150° F to 850° F temperature range.

    Pace MBT-350 Solder/Desolder Station

The Pace MBT-350 is loaded with features to improve quality, increase throughput, extend tip life, and protect your process. This fully programmable system offers a digital backlit display and the ability to be password protected. Administrators can create an approved operating range, allowing operators the flexibility to do their work, while eliminating the risks associated with giving techs access to the entire temperature range.

To maximize tip life and reduce operating costs, Pace's well recognized "Setback" and "Auto-Off" features are included. The system will automatically reduce the set temperature by 50% then turn off after a user-defined period of inactivity. To really protect your more expensive tip-heater cartridge and fine point tips from oxidation, the TD-100 can be used with the new "Instant-Setback Cubby". The cubby puts the iron's channel into setback if it's in the cubby for more than 45 seconds! Up to two instant setback cubbies can be connected to the MBT 350.

    Lead-Free Work Environment

Creating a lead-free work environment is not as simple as purchasing Pb-free solder. Using lead and no-lead solder on the same board will cause a chemical interaction and result in immediate contamination. TESSCO understands these challenges and can ease your transition with leading manufacturers in the soldering industry.

    Lead-Free Replacement Tips from Plato

Plato provides high-quality, low-cost alternatives to soldering and desoldering tips made by the big name manufacturers like Weller, Pace and Hakko, without sacrificing quality.Their tips are made of oxygen-free, high-conductivity copper and iron-plated to resist erosion by solder, ensuring their long term integrity. Plato tip points are finished to ensure corrosion protection, to immunize unwetted surfaces, and to provide a precision working surface.

    Lead-Free Soldering Quick Pick Guide

The international initiative to terminate the use of lead in manufactured products took effect July 5th 2006. In turn, manufacturers of soldering equipment and supplies used in the fabrication and repair of electronic products and components have developed products to support the lead-free compliancy. TESSCO supports the initiative by supplying customers with a wide range of lead-free supplies and compatible tools.
