Quick Guide to Cable Preparation
for Heliax AVA5 7/8" Copper Cable with EZFit Connectors
Step 1
Evenly cut the cable using a sharp hacksaw with the optional plastic saw guide.

Core the cable using the automated cable preparation tool driven by a high-torque/low-speed drill or a manual T-handle until the tool reaches the positive stop and cable material is no longer being stripped. Most cable preparation tools are self-feeding and self-centering eliminating the need for further measurement.

Step 3
Remove the dielectric material from the center conductor using a sharp knife. Debur the center conductor with a small flat file.

Step 4
Seat the rubber O-ring on the outer conductor against the edge of the cable jacket and liberally apply the supplied grease to the immediate area.

Step 5
Install the back nut while keeping the cable aligned and centered. Flare the outer conductor and remove any debris before installing the front nut. Carefully tighten the nut to the specified torque using a torque wrench. Since instructions may vary per cable and connector type, always follow the manufacturer's directions to ensure a quality installation.
