    Winter Safety Solutions

Winter can be the harshest time of the year for anyone who lives in the northern or western part of the United States. This winter, take the necessary precautions to keep yourself not only warm, but safe.

    General Protection

On the job safety requires a basic first aid kit located within a vehicle or a stationary location on the jobsite. North Mobile/Outdoor First Aid Kits are made, packaged, and inspected according to FDA's Good Manufacturing Standards, not to mention, weatherproof to keep your first aid supplies clean and dry.

    Head Protection

During the cold winter months it is important to keep your head warm, but it’s equally important to keep your head safe from falling objects. Branches with heavy snow and ice buildup can snap, or a piece of ice from a tower can come crashing down. Without proper head protection, these incidents may be very dangerous for you.

    Hand Protection

The necessity of hand protection takes on a new meaning in the winter. Not only do we need protection from irritants such as chemicals and rough surfaces, but we also need protection from the freezing elements. If left unprotected, frostbite can occur when temperatures drop below freezing - and additional heat loss from wind chill can add to this risk. Fortunately, TESSCO carries several different sizes of gloves that are both effective against the cold and still allow for the flexibility of working outside.

    Eye Protection

Protection of the eyes is more critical in the winter months due to freezing and windy conditions. Not only do the eyes dry out more rapidly, but increased exposure to the elements can cause permanent damage to the eyes. TESSCO recommends that if you are outside working in the elements that you wear some type of safety glasses. In areas where there is constantly snow covered areas, tinted safety glasses can help you prevent temporary snow blindness.
