Featured Products4.9 GHz Mobile SolutionsConsiderations in Deploying a Mobile 4.9 GHz SolutionRadios and modems to support the new 4.9 GHz data band are being introduced and TESSCO has the antenna solution to complete the project. The 4.9 GHz band, available to public safety and authorized critical infrastructure, presents several challenges for mobile environments. First is loss. At the higher frequencies traditional Motorola style mounts struggle to maintain necessary match tolerances and loss characteristics. To minimize loss, dual shield, solid center RG58/U should be used as the minimum standard. To optimize the match, Motorola mounts need to be rated for high frequencies or a direct radiating element-to-coax transition needs to be utilized. Second is line-of-sight. The small wavelength of 4.9 GHz means that every effort should be made to keep obstructions out of the transmission path. This is extremely important in the near field. Antennas should be mounted with at least 5 to 7.5 inches of separation (2 – 3 wavelengths) with every attempt made to avoid large objects in the transmission path (light bars on the roof, vehicle cab due to mounting on the trunk).
PCTEL 5012D-U GPS Antenna The 5012D-U GPS Receiver + Antenna incorporates a highly sensitive 16-channel quick time-to-fix GPS receiver and a high performance active/filtered GPS antenna. It features a GPS engine with embedded flash memory for custom application hosting, WAAS decoder for high-accuracy applications, low-noise amplifier, SAW filter to reject out-of band RF interference and precisely tuned ceramic patch element for maximum GPS signal reception.
The 5012D-U is housed in a compact, rugged, weatherproof magnet/screw mount enclosure with USB (type A) interfacing and is ideal for automotive navigation, fleet management, military, security and public safety mobiles and WiMAX/fixed broadband wireless timing applications.
Larsen Stealth Blade Antenna The Stealth Blade Antenna utilizes printed circuit technology to provide 2.14 dBi performance and superior impedance bandwidth.
This Tri-band SMR/Cellular/PCS antenna with stealth blade technology provides solid unity gain performance in a discrete design. The antenna is designed with end exit coax to be mounted in the upper corner of the windshield inside the vehicle. It's terminated with a FME female connector.
Mobile Mark Single-Band GPS Antennas Mobile Mark offers high-quality GPS single-band antennas for applications where there is a preference to have the GPS antenna mounted separately from the data radio antenna. Three mount options are available: surface-mount, glass on-window mount and mag-mount antennas. All are compact in size and housed in a sturdy radome.
The low-profile surface-mount antenna measures 2.5" in diameter x .75" high, and mounts with a 5/8" diameter threaded stud. The glass on-window mount antenna is angled for improved coverage and mounts with double-sided tape. The mag-mount antenna mounts easily to roof or trunk of vehicle. All antennas are available with a choice of connectors including new FAKRA series. The GPS performance is 27 dB with 5 dBi antenna gain. All GPS antennas feature low noise, 1.7 dB typical, with excellent filter characteristics.
Laird Low-Profile 5.8 GHz Phantom Elite Antenna Laird Technologies, announces the Phantom Elite 5.8 GHz Broadband Antenna. Public safety agencies, utilities, transportation and industrial organizations can now achieve high performance in a low-profile, stealth-design antenna in the 5.8 GHz broadband frequency range. As with all Phantom models, the antenna provides uninterrupted voice, data and video transmissions through patented 3 dB M.E.G. field-diversity performance that counteracts signal fading in highly reflective or mobile environments. The antenna measures only 2.7-inches high and is available with either NMO or permanent N-female mount.
STI-CO Unbreakable Antennas The amazing STI-CO Flexi-Whip Antenna features a whip with memory that may bend but will not break. You can tie it in a knot and it will return to its original shape. Eliminate the annoyance of replacing masts.
Flexi-Whips may be cut to cover VHF, UHF, or 800 MHz and anywhere from 136MHz to 1GHz. They are available in standard NMO Roof Mount, Trunk Lip Mount, or Magnet Mount.
