Antenna Solves In-Building Cell Phone Coverage Issues

License Plate Frame Covertly Hides Antenna

The new CLP Series license plate frame antenna from Mobile Mark accommodates multiple antennas in one package. The antenna elements are placed inside the frame of the license plate and are not visible from the outside.

The antennas are available in either two-cable or three-cable configurations. The two-cable models cover GPS, as well as U.S., European and Canadian cellular bands. The three-cable models cover GPS, as well as U.S. Cellular (850 MHz and 1900 MHz) and Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).

The covert license plate frame antenna can be mounted on either the front or rear of a vehicle. For states where license plate lighting is required, an LED lighting module can be added to the frame. These antennas are particularly beneficial for undercover and discreet security applications.

Concealed Internal Antenna System

STI-CO has expanded select products to cover new frequency ranges. This includes the popular concealed internal antenna, the Stinger, which is now available in the 700 MHz Public Safety Band. The peel-and-stick Stinger antenna system is designed for both undercover and marked law enforcement vehicles. It mounts above the rear window of a car or the side window of a van or SUV—virtually everywhere except the mast hides under the headliner. This unique antenna operates in 700 MHz or 800 MHz Public Safety Bands and PCS for two-way radio, cell phone, and mobile data applications. The Stinger is protected from adverse external conditions such as vandalism or car washes—a major cause of antenna damage and loss of communication.

The 5012D-U GPS Receiver + Antenna incorporates a highly sensitive 16-channel quick time-to-fix GPS receiver and a high performance active/filtered GPS antenna. It features a GPS engine with embedded flash memory for custom application hosting, WAAS decoder for high-accuracy applications, low-noise amplifier, SAW filter to reject out-of band RF interference and precisely tuned ceramic patch element for maximum GPS signal reception. 

The 5012D-U is housed in a compact, rugged, weatherproof magnet/screw mount enclosure with USB (type A) interfacing and is ideal for automotive navigation, fleet management, military, security and public safety mobiles and WiMAX/fixed broadband wireless timing applications.

Unbreakable Flexi-whip and rugged GPS low profile in one antenna. Now there is one less antenna to install on your vehicle. The Flexi-whip mast is guaranteed not to break and is field tunable for VHF, UHF, 700 or 800 MHz. The GPS housing and die-cast base will survive the harshest conditions. The solid brass NMO components give optimal conductivity and the Retro-fit GPS base will work with any standard 3/4” portable antenna.

Larsen GPS Tri Band Now Available with a Magnetic Mount

Larsen is proud to offer a GPS tri band mobile antenna covering 824-960/1710-2710/1575.4 frequencies. The GPSCPMM is an AMPS-GSM/DCS-PCS-UMTS/GPS antenna. This low profile antenna features a strong magnet for quick installation and removal. GPSCPMM antennas operate at either 3 or 5 volt DC.

4.9 GHz Mobile Solutions

Considerations in Deploying
a Mobile 4.9 GHz Solution

Radios and modems to support the new 4.9 GHz data band are being introduced and TESSCO has the antenna solution to complete the project.  The 4.9 GHz band, available to public safety and authorized critical infrastructure, presents several challenges for mobile environments. 

First is loss.  At the higher frequencies traditional Motorola style mounts struggle to maintain necessary match tolerances and loss characteristics.  To minimize loss, dual shield, solid center RG58/U should be used as the minimum standard. To optimize the match, Motorola mounts need to be rated for high frequencies or a direct radiating element-to-coax transition needs to be utilized.

Second is line-of-sight.  The small wavelength of 4.9 GHz means that every effort should be made to keep obstructions out of the transmission path.  This is extremely important in the near field.  Antennas should be mounted with at least 5 to 7.5 inches of separation (2 – 3 wavelengths) with every attempt made to avoid large objects in the transmission path (light bars on the roof, vehicle cab due to mounting on the trunk).
