DragonWave’s Horizon Compact is a highly integrated, carrier-grade solution for Ethernet backhaul using licensed or unlicensed spectrum. This next-generation, high-capacity native Ethernet system, Horizon Compact, features a zero-footprint platform where the radio and the modem are integrated into a single, compact, outdoor unit. It offers improved economics and simplified operations. Increased capacity (800 Mbps), simplified installation and operation, and improved troubleshooting, so you get lower lifecycle costs.  

Small - but BIG Capacity

Integrating both the indoor unit (IDU) and outdoor unit (ODU) into a single compact ODU that fits in the palm of your hand, the Horizon Compact delivers up to 800 Mbps in 56 MHz channels with a single GbE interface. The direct conversion design allows for ultra-wide tuning ranges and software-defined channel bandwidths from 14 MHz to 56 MHz from the same hardware platform. All current native Ethernet AirPair features, such as flex bandwidth control, ultralow latency, 100 mS mesh restoration and in-band SNMP management are available in the the platform, as well as several new features such as fast adaptive modulation and integrated RF loopback.

Operational Improvements

The Horizon Compact not only improves performance at a lower cost but also offers significant operational improvements. The low-power (35 watts per end), all-outdoor design eliminates cabling congestion and air conditioning load in the cabinet, reducing battery requirements. When coupled with DragonWave’s mini-antenna design, this delivers the smallest form factor solution on the market. Capacity scaling under software control significantly reduces the need to re-engineer backhaul networks, reducing the cost of network churn.
