Affordable Wireless Voice/Fax Over IP Communications

Voice Over IPMulti-Tech’s MultiVOIP gateway brings affordable voice over IP to broadband wireless access networks by extending the reach of a company’s PBX between buildings or across campuses without the cost of installing another PBX or utilizing expensive T1 lines. With MultiVOIP, you simply leverage existing phone equipment to route voice calls over a wireless data network.

The MultiVoIP gateway, a stand-alone box that operates alongside a company’s PBX, makes it possible to maintain all existing systems while extending voice and PBX features and functionality to remote office locations. The gateway is easy to set up and use, and when utilized with a wireless network, it provides voice and data connectivity without laying cables or paying monthly charges for dedicated lines. Employees at the remote location can communicate as if they were at the main office.

    Connection Overview

MultiVOIP connects directly to phones, fax machines, key systems, or a PBX and plugs into the IP data network to provide real-time, toll-quality voice. It merges voice from the telephone onto the IP network and then utilizes another MultiVOIP gateway, at the remote end, to separate the voice from the data network and send it back to the PBX or telephone. Calls are automatically routed over the PSTN network if the IP network is congested or down.

Multi-Tech's FaxFinder connects to an analog port(s) of a PBX capable of DID to DTMF conversion and converts faxes to TIFF files, allowing faxes to be viewed privately through e-mail. Faxes can be sent from any application that can print. Features include a built-in TIFF viewer that displays thumbnails, zooms, rotates and flips, the ability to build one fax of multiple documents from multiple applications, and the convenience of scheduling faxes at a later time. Minimum requirements for system set-up are an Ethernet network, a WAN connection and IP addresses.

    Product Highlights

    Eliminate Voice Quality Issues

In the past, voice quality was an issue with VoIP. With MultiVOIP, you can be assured of consistent toll-quality voice connections that utilize Perceptual Speech Quality Measurement (PSQM). Internet Telephony magazine recognized that MultiVOIP delivered exceptional voice quality and outranked their competition. Other features of Multi-Tech VoIP solutions include:

    • Interoperability

MultiVOIP systems utilize H.323 and SIP protocols to provide complete interoperability with other Internet Telephony solutions.

    • PSTN Fail-over

PSTN fail-over allows MultiVOIP to automatically route calls over the PSTN if the IP network is congested or down.

    • Bandwidth Management

Bandwidth is only used when someone is talking. Silence suppression/Voice Activity Detection (VAD) feature is an option that frees up unused call bandwidth for data traffic.

    • Supplementary Services

MultiVOIP supports H.450 supplementary services to provide for call transfer, call forwarding, call hold, call waiting and name identification.

    • Multiple Telephony Interfaces

MultiVOIP two, four and eight port models accommodate changing communications needs by providing a programmable FXS/FXO and E&M interface for each port. Single Port MultiVOIP supports FXS and FXO interfaces while the digital MultiVOIP connects directly to a PBX or PSTN line via BRI, T1, E1 or PRI.

Multi-Tech Systems offer a wide variety of MultiVOIP solutions from small to larger applications to meet your customer’s needs. Below are the models available and the number of ports supported.
