TESSCO Recognized for Developing and Implementing Supplier Diversity Best Practices

TESSCO has been honored for its commitment to diversity by receiving the 2010 DiversityNXT Gen Corporation Award, one of the highest accolades the industry gives to a company for its utilization and advocacy of diverse suppliers.

Presented by the Telecommunications Industry Group (TIG), this prestigious recognition is awarded yearly to a corporation that has been innovative in the way it has used a diverse supplier in its supply chain.

With the presentation of this prestigious 2010 DiversityNXT Award, TESSCO officially joined the elite group of past DiversityNXT Gen Corporation Award recipients, including industry leaders such as AT&T, CommScope and Motorola. Read the full press release.

TESSCO's goal is to create a business environment that is committed to diversity spending, requiring not only a regular reporting and review of how much we spend with diverse suppliers, but also requiring that our suppliers report to us their utilization of diverse suppliers. We strive to ensure that diverse suppliers are afforded every opportunity to compete to become a supplier to TESSCO.

What is a Diverse Supplier?

At TESSCO, we define diverse suppliers as those who are certified as minority, women, or disabled veteran entities. These business enterprises must be at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by United States Citizens who:

• Are Women; African, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American; Disabled Veterans
• Are in adherance with our high quality standards—provide excellent service, competitive pricing, innovative solutions and/or products
• Have a minimum of three years of business history

TESSCO also works with HUBzone entities and Section 8(a) vendors. HUBzone entities are companies located within one or more qualified census tracts, qualified non-metropolitan counties, or lands within the external boundaries of an Indian reservation. For purposes of this HUBzone designation, TESSCO recognizes small businesses that appear on the List of Qualified HUBzone Small Business Concerns, maintained by the SBA. Section 8(a) Vendors are small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, which are certified by the SBA to participate in the Section 8(a) program.
