Private Indoor Networks

Today's mobile communications devices are powerful tools used for business or personal use. Our expectations of reliability and performance continue to escalate, even as devices become more complex in nature.

Get the most out of your mobile device with the right protection, power and near-field communications options.

Private Indoor Networks

Individuals and businesses demand the same quality of wireless service inside buildings as they enjoy outside. However, indoor environments often pose unique challenges in situations where consistent wireless connectivity is a requirement.

Steel, glass, concrete and other building materials can obstruct radio frequency (RF) signals, severely impacting the quality of service available to end users. Wireless voice calls and Internet data connections can become degraded or dropped altogether. In many cases, dead spots can exist within buildings that render wireless communications devices completely useless.

But all is not lost. The technology exists today to guarantee indoor coverage regardless of the environmental challenges posed. For example, the quality of wireless voice calls can be maintained inside by handing off the call from an outdoor macrocell to an indoor femto-cell or WiFi hotspot. Alternatively, cellular network signals can be brought inside with a directional antenna pointing at a nearby cell site, then amplifying and distributing the signal throughout the facility with well-placed indoor antennas that cover rooms, elevators and hallways.

In-building data connections are best handled over a wireless local area network (WLAN). Strategically-located WiFi access points can provide end users with a strong signal and high quality of service throughout the building. These access points are connected to a central router or server, which is tied to the outside world over a high-speed wired link from a local service provider. These enterprise wireless solutions allow users to move throughout the building and still receive a strong signal for connecting either to an internal data network or the public Internet. The economics, reliability and convenience of these in-building solutions is unquestionable. Wireless indoor communications can be more efficient and cost-effective than running copper or fiber cables, especially in older structures.

TESSCO is uniquely positioned to help organizations design and build their private indoor networks with complete high-speed broadband solutions. From WiFi access points for hotspot coverage, various single- and multi-band indoor antennas, copper and fiber WLAN cabling, bi-directional amplifiers, IP cameras, wireless routers, voice over IP (VoIP) systems, cabinets, back-up power, and inside mounting hardware, TESSCO's portfolio for private outdoor networks outpaces any other wireless equipment distributor. And we support private indoor network builds with value-added services such application engineering, site kitting, guaranteed delivery, and technology and product training.
