Waveguide

Waveguides are ideal for signals of extremely high frequency, like microwave antenna systems, where the wavelength nears the cross-sectional dimensions of the waveguide. Waveguides conduct microwave energy at lower loss than coaxial cables. A waveguide is a form of transmission cable or line consisting of a hollowed out metal tube. The wall of the tube allows for distributed inductance, while the empty space between the walls of the tube creates distributed capacitance.
