This provides overvoltage protection for your equipment and supports long-term system reliability by absorbing high amounts of transient energy while maintaining a low clamping voltage. It is an industrial surge protector for AC that helps prevent damage from VAC overvoltage that can be caused by lightning surge and other strong electrical power spikes. 

It uses Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) circuits to protect electrical devices from spikes in alternating current power.
